Business Segment/ Overview:

iSTAR Medical specializes in developing minimally invasive ophthalmic implants, particularly for the treatment of glaucoma, which is the leading cause of irreversible blindness globally.
The flagship product of ISTAR Medical is MINIject, a microinvasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) device designed to effectively reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma. This innovative device is made from a proprietary material known as STAR, which is notable for its anti-fibrotic and anti-inflammatory properties. MINIject facilitates the outflow of aqueous humor from the anterior chamber to the supraciliary space, resulting in significant IOP reduction—clinical trials indicate a mean reduction of over 40% at two years post-surgery.

Description

Minijet S

MINIject S is iSTAR Medical’s revolutionary, supraciliary MIGS device.

The uveoscleral drainage pathway is known to lower IOP significantly; The negative pressure gradient from the anterior chamber to the supraciliary space evacuates aqueous humor, unhindered by an episcleral venous pressure floor. MINIjectS now allows ophthalmic surgeons to harness this potential in a safe and predictable way. MINIject S combines a smart way to access the supraciliary space with a uniquely designed, soft and flexible implant which has proven its long-term safety and sustained efficacy in lowering IOP.

MINIject is only available for sale in the European Union, the UK, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Australia.

Key Features of MINIject:

  • Bio-integration: The STAR material conforms to eye anatomy and integrates with surrounding tissues, enhancing drainage efficacy over time.
  • Safety and Efficacy: Clinical data demonstrate a favorable safety profile along with sustained IOP reduction, making it a promising option for glaucoma patients.
