AGC Inc. was established in 1950 and was founded in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture. In 1917, its head office moved to Tokyo In 1925, the company established Shoko Glass in China, marking the start of Asahi Glass's first overseas business. Its automotive business offers laminated and tempered glass for automobiles. It also provides advanced technologies such as cover glass for in-vehicle displays and glass antennas. The Electronics business includes semiconductor/MEMS process materials, multi-material, optical components, optical thin film, polycarbonate, and others.
Its chemical business provides a stable supply of products essential to various industrial fields, such as caustic soda and PVC (polyvinyl chloride resin). The company also manufacture and sell urethane-related products, which are used in materials such as insulation and car seats. The life science segment provides biopharmaceutical CDMO Services, synthetic drug CDMO services, agrochemical CDMO services, and also offers specialty chemicals.

To produce Low-Carbon Glass, we took a holistic approach to every part of the manufacturing process to optimize CO2 emissions, not only before and during the production process itself, but up to and including delivery to the customer. Through this in-depth process, the company developed Low-Carbon Planibel Clearlite, our low-carbon float glass featuring a reduced carbon footprint. Low-carbon Planibel Clearlite looks the same and delivers the same performance as standard Planibel Clearlite float glass. AGC Glass Europe announced a new float glass range with a reduced carbon footprint The Group has announced that by the end of 2022, it will produce a float glass range featuring a significantly reduced carbon footprint of less than 7 kg of CO2 per m2 for clear glass (4 mm thick). This move will enable AGC – one of the world's largest flat glass producers to reduce the carbon emissions generated during the production of this floating glass by more than 40%. |
