CCI approves Avenue-Mavco and MHM deal via Green Channel Route
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has granted automatic approval for the Avenue-Mavco acquisition of MHM Holding GmbH through its Green Channel route. This fast-track approval indicates that the transaction raises no major competition concerns or overlaps in the Indian market, simplifying the regulatory process for mergers and acquisitions.
Under the agreement, Avenue India Emergence Pte. Ltd. (Avenue) and Mavco Investments Private Ltd. (Mavco) will jointly acquire full ownership of MHM Holding, the parent company of Hubergroup, a global leader in printing inks and chemicals. The deal also involves forming a joint venture in India, which will manage the business and assume transaction rights locally.
Avenue, part of Avenue Capital Group, specializes in specialty lending and investments, operating across key global markets such as the US, Europe, and Asia. Mavco, a newer entity, is privately owned by individuals and trusts. MHM Holding, the target company, operates globally through its subsidiary Hubergroup, offering innovative and sustainable printing and chemical solutions, with a significant presence in India, Europe, and other emerging markets.

The global chemicals market growth is anchored by the Asia-Pacific region, which not only holds the largest market share (45.65% in 2025) but also exhibits one of the highest growth rates, driven by China and India's industrial expansion.
Sustainability is no longer a niche trend but a core driver of innovation and investment, with stringent regulations and consumer demand pushing the industry towards green chemistry, bio-based feedstocks, and circular economy models.
While mature markets like North America and Europe focus on high-value specialty chemicals and technological innovation, significant growth potential lies in emerging regions like South America and Africa, fueled by agriculture and infrastructure needs.
The Middle East remains a powerhouse in petrochemicals due to its feedstock advantages, with a strategic pivot towards downstream diversification into specialty chemicals to capture more value.
