UK Government donates £2 million worth of medical equipment to Ukraine
More than £2 million worth of life-saving medical supplies, such as ventilators, pumps, and monitors, have been donated to Ukraine by the UK government. Up to 60 intensive care beds can be supported by the donation package, which also includes heated humidifiers, ventilators, oxygen concentrators, suction pumps, patent monitors, and volumetric pumps. Healthcare facilities in Ukraine desperately need the equipment so they may start treating patients right away. The Minister of Health for Ukraine asked for the donation. During their meeting, the Health and Social Care Secretary met with the First Lady of Ukraine, who expressed gratitude to the UK for its medical help and talked about future medical cooperation. The UK signed a declaration on international health partnerships in September of last year, which advocated for the development and promotion of international collaborations between governmental and expert bodies. In order to facilitate experience, training, operational knowledge, and research sharing, 29 partnerships have been formed between 21 Ukrainian healthcare institutions and 26 international healthcare institutions from 15 different countries. Since 2020, the Covid Strategic ICU Reserve has provided over 80,000 pieces of equipment to the NHS and funded relief efforts to Nepal, Peru, Gaza, and British Overseas Territories. This contribution is a part of the UK's effort to supply essential necessities and medical supplies in the wake of Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine.
