FORJ: Single-Channel Fiber Optic Rotary Joints (R series) |
The R series Single-channel (SM or MM) rotary joints offer many variations. The rugged body allows fiber pigtail, ST, or FC receptacles on either the rotor or the stator side. There can be total nine different configurations to fit the need exactly. The standard base models are RPT, RFC, and RST for pigtails, FC/PC, and ST/PC receptacles. Similar to MJX and RFCX series, the R Series FORJs contain fluid, which ensures condensation-free operation at extreme low temperatures. It is also ideal for high humidity environments. The R series features extremely low insertion loss and impressive return loss performance for both single mode and multimode fibers. Model RPTA typically yields return loss figures higher than 60 dB. These rugged devices can operate under arctic temperature environment (See insertion loss and return loss temperature cycling plots on the left). MJX series Fiber Optic Rotary Joints (FORJs) are extremely compact. So small they can even be used in the middle of fluid flows. They are the world’s smallest and lightest. They feature very low insertion loss and impressive return loss performance. Model MJXA typically yields return loss figures higher than 60 dB. Similar to R series and RFCX series, the MJX Series FORJs contain fluid, which ensures condensation free operation at extreme low temperatures. It is also ideal for high humidity environments. The standard packages are dust and water tight for harsh environment applications. They are designed to tolerate both occasional water splash and shallow water (or oil) immersion. Plastic optical fibers (POF) possess a few important characters that make them favorite choices for certain short-distance fiber optic applications. Their large cores allow easy light coupling. Termination can be simplified to quick hot knife cutting or diamond turning. They are bend insensitive and do not fatigue easily. Princetel’s PJ2 series 2-channel FORJ connects two independent fiber channels simultaneously. They are blind-spot free during rotation and are ideal for machine control applications such as SERCOS Interfaces. The rugged design permits underwater usage. Damaged fibers can be easily replaced without costly repairs of the FORJ itself. |

FORJ: Multi-Channel Fiber Optic Rotary Joint (MXn series, SM & MM) |
MXn series multi-pass Fiberoptic Rotary Joints (FORJs) are compact multi-channel products. They connect 2-3 (Model MXnS) or 2-7 (Model MXn and MXnL) independent fiber channels simultaneously. They are ideal when combined with electrical slip rings or RF rotary joints or when space is tight in general. Though very small they still feature standard optical performance (<-60 dB crosstalk, <5 dB insertion loss, and >45 dB return loss). All channels can accommodate either single mode or multimode fibers. It is also possible to combine the two types of fibers in one device. Choose the MXnL model if IP 65 rating is required. |
