  • Market Position/ History
  • Founded in 1976 by Adriano Passeri, Drafinsub emerged from a deep-rooted passion for the sea and commercial diving. Initially focused on harbour services, underwater maintenance, and shipowner support in one of Europe’s busiest ports, the company quickly gained recognition for its professionalism and reliability. Throughout the 1980s, Drafinsub expanded its presence across Italy and internationally, taking on in-shore projects and securing contracts in Lebanon, Libya, and Jamaica. The 1990s marked a turning point with the development of its first hyperbaric system for closed bell operations, positioning the company in the offshore diving market. Under the leadership of Gianluca Passeri, Drafinsub has continued to evolve with cutting-edge technology and a steadfast commitment to safety and quality. With nearly 45 years of experience, it is now recognized as a leader in both in-shore and offshore diving services, delivering excellence through generations.

•    Topographic and Geodetic Surveys: Establishment of accurate geodetic reference networks on offshore structures.
•    Positioning Services: High-precision surface and hydrographic navigation support using D-GPS and RTK technologies.
•    Diving Systems Management: Full-spectrum management and operation of offshore diving systems.
•    Inspection & NDT Services: Comprehensive non-destructive testing, including IWS inspections for class certification.
•    Air & Saturation Diving: Surface-supplied air diving and closed bell (saturation) diving services up to 300 meters.
•    UXO Clearance: On land and in-water unexploded ordnance survey and clearance.
•    Seabed Survey & Mapping: Detailed seabed scanning, data processing, and 3D rendering.
•    ROV Services: Operation of both inspection and work-class ROVs.
•    Engineering & Design: Dedicated support for offshore project planning and execution.

Inshore
•    Inshore services mirror many offshore offerings but are tailored for ports, harbors, coastal facilities, and shallow-water operations. These include:
•    Geodetic & Hydrographic Surveys: For infrastructure planning and marine engineering.
•    Air & Saturation Diving: Rapid deployment for construction, inspection, and maintenance.
•    NDT & Structural Inspections: Ensuring structural integrity for submerged infrastructure.
•    ROV & UXO Operations: High-resolution inspections and mine clearance in restricted or hazardous zones.
•    Engineering Support: On-demand technical services for safe, efficient inshore interventions.

Onshore/Inland
•    Extending underwater expertise to land-based and inland water operations, Drafinsub provides:
•    Surveying & Positioning: Applied to inland waterways and adjacent terrestrial areas.
•    NDT & Structural Inspections: For civil infrastructure, bridges, dams, and tunnels.
•    Hyperbaric Tunnel Support: Specialized support for Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) maintenance in pressurized environments.
•    Air & Saturation Diving: Rapid and specialized deployment even in remote inland locations.
•    UXO & ROV Operations: In terrestrial or confined aquatic zones where precision and safety are critical.
•    Engineering Services: From feasibility studies to full project design and documentation.

ROV & Survey
•    The ROV & Survey division represents the technological edge of Drafinsub, offering:
•    Hydrographic, Bathymetric & Acoustic Surveys: Accurate data collection and spatial analysis for subsea and shoreline projects.
•    ROV Operations: Deployment of inspection and work-class units in challenging subsea environments.
•    Specialized Marine Technology: Including side-scan sonar, subsea positioning, and high-resolution seabed imaging.
•    Custom Survey Solutions: Designed for complex environments and tailored to project-specific needs.
•    Safety & Compliance: All operations uphold the highest environmental and safety standards.
•    Drafinsub is not only a provider but also an experienced customer and operator of Saturation Diving systems, leveraging this advanced technique for complex and deep-water subsea operations. With certified personnel, in-house hyperbaric systems, and the capability to conduct Closed Bell/Saturation Diving up to 300 meters sea water (msw), the company integrates saturation diving into projects requiring extended bottom times and enhanced safety for divers. This capacity allows Drafinsub to undertake high-risk offshore construction, inspection, repair, and UXO clearance tasks for both public and private sector clients, demonstrating their dual role as both a user and enabler of high-performance saturation diving technologies.
