Global Ka Band SATCOM on the Move Market Overview

Product Overview and Scope of Ka Band SATCOM on the Move

Satcom on the Move (SOTM) stands for satellite communications on the move. It refers to mobile satellite technology, particularly relating to military ground, maritime, and airborne systems. The fundamental idea underlying Satcom on the Move is that a vehicle equipped with a satellite antenna connects to a satellite for communication and continues that communication while the vehicle is in motion. Satellite network mobility is improved by SATCOM on the Move, which also provides truly global on-the-go connectivity. SOTM may be used to send live, high-definition audio and video to the central station from a moving vehicle. Additionally, it gives users the ability to make phone calls, participate in video conferences, and establish fast internet connections. SATCOM on the move uses various frequencies such as the C band, I band, S band, X band, Ka band, Ku band, UHF band, and SHF band.
Ka-Band SATCOM on the Move (KaSMo), is a particular kind of satellite communication system with a high-frequency radio spectrum band known as Ka-band. The Ka-band operated at frequencies in the range of 26 GHz to 40 GHz, i.e., over 4x more than in other commonly used bands, and wavelength between 1.1 to 0.75 centimeters. Its uplinks (earth-to-satellite) via multiple beams of coverage and offers a high-speed data connection. Ka-band frequencies permit the use of more compact antennas and provide high-resolution data and close-range targeting radars on military aircraft.
For mobile users, including military vehicles and aircraft, it is intended to offer high-speed, two-way communications. In addition to being utilized for command and control, KaSMo is used for secure data and voice communications, including videos and imaging. This technology is crucial because it gives individuals a dependable means to stay connected when traveling, whether they're on an aircraft, train, or automobile.
