Strategic Recommendations for Manufacturers

Manufacturers should prioritize securing long-term raw material supplies through strategic partnerships, direct investment in mining operations, or offtake agreements to hedge against price volatility. Simultaneously, accelerating R&D investment into next-generation technologies like solid-state batteries and high-manganese cathodes is crucial for long-term competitiveness. Establishing robust, closed-loop battery recycling programs will not only address environmental concerns but also create a valuable secondary source of critical materials. Furthermore, diversifying the manufacturing footprint by building gigafactories in key end-markets like North America and Europe is essential to de-risk supply chains, reduce logistics costs, and capitalize on regional policy incentives.
