The effective cavity length limits the turning range and confinement factor.

Lumentum Operations LLC announced the launch of new high-power and high-efficiency five and six-junction vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) arrays for automotive LiDAR, innovative consumer, and other 3D sensing applications.
January 2024 - Coherent Corp. launched a VCSEL-based illumination module platform for short-range and mid-range LiDAR in industrial robotic vision and automotive security in industrial environments. The expanding use of depth sensing in industrial robots and advanced driver assistance systems in vehicles is accelerating the need for compact and flexible LiDAR systems that operate efficiently and reliably, even in the most hostile environments.
