International Patients’ Union signs MoU with the Indian Pharmacopeia Commission to prioritise patient-driven healthcare solutions
In an effort to transform healthcare by giving priority to patient-driven and outcome-focused solutions, the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) and the International Patients' Union (IPU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). 'The Change Initiative,' or the IPU, was founded to link patients to an IT-enabled platform with the goal of making healthcare more patient- and outcome-driven, accountable, accessible, and cheap. The Pharmacovigilance initiative of India, India's premier drug safety monitoring initiative, is used by the IPC to gather, compile, and assess adverse occurrences related to drugs. Through the establishment of transparency, accountability, and trust between patients and healthcare providers, the partnership hopes to revolutionise the healthcare industry by introducing patient-reported outcomes for the first time in the nation. The principal aim of the partnership is to implement a technologically advanced platform via the Patients Union App, enabling patients to provide their viewpoints on Adverse Drug Reporting. Patients can easily report adverse drug reactions (ADRs) to the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) by using the Medicines Side Effects Reporting Form. To inform the public about ADR reporting, the IPU and IPC will work together to plan interactive sessions, workshops, and awareness campaigns. The International Patients' Union's founder, Dr. Rajendra Pratap Gupta, stated that this is the start of a tech-enabled era in which patients have the ability to share and effect change. On April 6, the IPU will have its annual conference in Delhi, where they plan to introduce additional innovative projects aimed at revolutionising the healthcare industry.
