Introduction of the Isoamylene Market
Isoamylene is a white liquid hydrocarbon that is frequently referred to as C5H10. It belongs to the pentene family and is an unstructured branched alkene. Crude oil processing and the cracking of hydrocarbon feedstocks produce isoamylene. In the production of numerous chemicals, including artificial rubber, resins, plastics, pesticides, and antioxidants, it is commonly used as a chemical intermediate. Isoamylene is extremely flammable and has a strong smell. Although it is insoluble in water, it is accessible in organic solvents. The chemical is used as a monomer in polymerization processes to create elastomers, such as polyisoprene, due to its reactivity. Additionally, isoamylene is a starting chemical for the synthesis of tastes, perfumes, and medications. The main factor driving isoamylene demand is its use as a raw material to make synthetic rubber, such as polyisoprene latex.
