| Market Position or History | In 1803, Gebrüder Dürholz & Co. created the company “Eisenwerke der Handelsgesellschaft“ in Solothurn, Switzerland. In 1823, Von Roll Corporation was established by the Solothurn patrician Franz Peter Leo Ludwig Freiherr Von Roll von Emmenholz. In 1903, Schweizerische Isola-Werke AG (SIB) was established in Breitenbach, Switzerland, by Albert Borer. First global provider of mica products. In 1938, production facilities were expanded and new treatment equipments were installed. Soflex brand was established which used PVC for cable insulation. In 1950, Mica Paper was produced in the newly established factory in France. In 1988, Von Roll acquired Schweizerische Isola-Werke AG from US-based Essex Group. In 2005, Schweizerische Isola-Werke AG was renamed as Von Roll Schweiz AG. |
