Market Position or History |
In 1967, a holding company was formed which acquired Philadelphia Carpet Company. The holding company added Star Finishing, which was evolved out of Star Dye. In 1971, Philadelphia Holding Company went public as Shaw Industries, Inc. In 1972, Shaw Industries acquired New Found Industries to generate its their yarn supply. In 1987, Shaw Industries purchased WestPoint-Pepperell Carpet and Rug Division, acquiring the Cabin Crafts and Stratton brands. In 1989, Shaw Industries acquires the carpet division flagship Evans & Black brand of Armstrong World Industries, Inc. In 1992, Shaw Industries acquired Amoco's polypropylene fiber production facilities. In 2014, Shaw Industries introduced Solution Q Extreme commercial carpet fiber, a cationic nylon that allows for the removal of acid-based stains with only water. |

Shaw Industries Group markets its products for residential and commercial sectors worldwide. The company are a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. Shaw is headquartered in Dalton, Ga., with salespeople and/or offices located throughout the U.S., Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, India, Mexico, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. Its flooring brands include Anderson Tuftex, Shaw Floors, and US Floors. Through subsidiaries Shaw Sports Turf and Southwest Green International the company offers synthetic sports turf, landscape turf, and golf greens. Shaw sells its products to more than 39,000 retailers, distributors, and commercial users in North America and abroad.
