  • Seamec Ltd. began its journey on 29th December 1986, incorporated as Peerless Leasing Private Limited. Over the next few years, it underwent several name changes—first to Peerless Drive Private Limited in 1987 and then, following its conversion to a deemed public company in 1988, the word “Private” was dropped. In 1994, the company was renamed Peerless Shipping and Oilfield Services Ltd, marking a shift towards marine and oilfield services. A major turning point came in 1999, when Coflexip Stena Offshore Mauritius Ltd acquired a majority stake, making it the promoter. Subsequently, in 2000, the company’s name was changed to South East Asia Marine Engineering & Construction Ltd (SEAMEC Ltd). In 2001, following Technip of France’s acquisition of Coflexip Group globally, SEAMEC became part of the Technip Group, which eventually increased its stake to 75%.
  • The company adopted its present name, Seamec Ltd, in 2007. Another key transition occurred in 2014, when Technip divested its entire holding to HAL Offshore Limited, bringing Seamec under the umbrella of the MM Agrawal Group. HAL became the promoter, and Seamec Ltd became its subsidiary. Continuing its expansion strategy, the company established Seamate Shipping FZC in 2020 as a step-down subsidiary and launched a joint venture subsidiary, Seamec Nirman, in 2021, aimed at executing tunnel projects. This evolution from a leasing company to a marine engineering and construction firm reflects Seamec’s adaptive growth and strategic repositioning in the offshore and infrastructure sectors.

  • With a Saudi Arabian business, Seamec Limited of India has signed a charter hiring agreement for the deployment of their multipurpose dive support vessel (DSV) in the Middle East.
  • Seamec, which purchased the vessel from James Fisher and Sons back in 2022, said that Swordfish is specifically designed for saturation diving, ROV, survey, and crane operations in adverse weather conditions. It is also suited for offshore installations of subsea hardware, complex deepwater inspection, repair, and maintenance (IRM), and well-intervention services. In order to hire Seamec Swordfish for work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, Seamec entered into a Bimco charter party with Safeen Al Behar Limited Company, Saudi Arabia, for a firm period of 730 days, with the possibility of extension on mutually agreed terms. The total value for the firm period is $57.40 million.
