Paramount's legacy dates back to 1914 when Adolph Zukor, Daniel Frohman, and W.W. Hodkinson founded Paramount Pictures Corporation. In 1928, William S. Paley acquired United Independent Broadcasters Inc., a network of 16 radio stations, renaming it Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS). Nickelodeon, a Paramount-owned channel, launched its first original program, "Pinwheel," in 1979.
