Otto Chemie’s tert-Dodecyl Mercaptan (TDM) is a clear, colorless liquid thiol with a molecular formula of C??H??SH and a molecular weight of approximately 202.40. It is offered at a nominal purity of 97% for synthetic applications and has an assay (GC) value listed at 98.5%, indicating a high degree of chemical integrity. The product contains about 15.7% mercaptan-sulfur by weight, a typical level for functional thiols used in radical polymerization. Its density is around 0.86 g/mL at 20 °C, making it moderately light compared to water. Due to its thiol nature, it possesses a strong odor and must be handled with care under appropriate safety conditions. |
