Market Position/ History |
Matica Systems, acquired by Sandro Camilleri in 2002, has grown into a global leader in secure card issuance and identification solutions through a series of strategic acquisitions and innovations. In 2007, Matica expanded its reach by acquiring two companies: the Austrian firm Digicard and the Italian company Fractlos Card Lab, both of which specialize in high-volume card issuance systems. The company further strengthened its portfolio in 2011 by purchasing a stake in Digital Identification Solutions AG (DISO), a prominent provider of advanced identification technologies. Over the years, Matica has introduced several groundbreaking products, such as the LX series of laser modules in 2015 and the high-resolution MC660 retransfer printer in 2019. Matica’s commitment to innovation continued with the launch of the MC310 direct-to-card printer in 2020, followed by the release of the S7000JET, its first inkjet-based ID issuance system, in 2021. In 2022, the company acquired UbiQ software and NBS Technologies, further strengthening its technological capabilities. Matica also expanded its desktop direct-to-card printer offerings with the MC Series and launched the XIDM300 retransfer printer in 2023. These developments reinforced Matica’s standing as a provider of cutting-edge secure ID and payment solutions. Through these strategic acquisitions and continuous advancements in card issuance technology, Matica has solidified its position as a key player in the global identity and payment solutions industry. |
