  • Established in 1998, HAL began its journey as an aggregator of resources for the Indian offshore oil and gas sector. Over the years, the company evolved into a leading end-to-end provider of underwater and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) services, catering primarily to India’s oil and gas industry. HAL has steadily built a reputation for delivering turnkey subsea and marine projects, backed by certifications from esteemed bodies such as the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), DNV, and Lloyd's Register (LR). Its operations now span two key verticals: high-end DP II Diving Support Vessels under its Oilfield Underwater Services, and Brownfield EPC works on both manned and unmanned platforms within its Offshore EPC segment. Today, HAL stands as a one-stop provider of integrated offshore underwater and EPC solutions in India.

Business Segment or Overview:

HAL operates through a diversified set of specialized business segments, primarily serving the offshore oil and gas industry with a comprehensive suite of marine, engineering, and subsea services.

Specialized Marine Services

HAL has established itself as a leading provider of Specialized Marine Services, particularly for offshore facilities. The company manages Multi-Support Vessels (MSVs) for ONGC, supporting operations like firefighting, rescue and recovery, and IRM activities such as BPI, MGR, SBM mooring/demooring, crane assistance, SZRI work, and both Saturation and Air Diving Support. HAL has also executed large-scale maintenance projects, such as painting splash and atmospheric zones of 44 offshore platforms. Additionally, HAL trains operators and discipline engineers in the safe and effective use of control systems to ensure operational excellence.

Topside Construction & EPCI Operations

HAL offers end-to-end EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation) solutions, managing projects from pre-engineering site surveys to post-installation assessments. The company performs detailed inspections of jackets, J-tubes, and cable routes to accurately assess required modifications. HAL’s site surveys culminate in comprehensive reports suggesting improvements and additions to facilities, helping clients make informed upgrade decisions.

Engineering Services

HAL is highly experienced in concept-to-commissioning project execution. The company's in-house engineering capabilities cover a wide spectrum—process, mechanical, piping, civil, and electrical & instrumentation (E&I). With deep domain expertise, HAL delivers high-quality, timely detailed engineering for both its own operations and external clients.

Procurement Services

HAL's procurement division supports project execution through robust sourcing and vendor management practices. With over a decade of experience, HAL ensures that all procured materials meet client specifications and regulatory standards. Services include technical evaluations, vendor identification, RFQ issuance, data sheet preparation, and client approvals. The company benefits from long-term relationships with global OEMs and suppliers.

Construction, Installation & Commissioning

HAL specializes in offshore construction projects such as production platform upgrades, debottlenecking, and equipment commissioning. Services span fabrication, installation, hook-up, instrumentation and control works (PLC, DCS, SCADA), electrical installations (MCC, PCC), and complex structural fabrication. HAL also handles the mobilization and demobilization of offshore assets and executes piping works in carbon steel, stainless steel, and exotic alloys.

Subsea Intervention Services

HAL offers a full range of subsea intervention services including inspection, maintenance, and repair of offshore infrastructure. Capabilities include pipeline leak repair using clamps and rigid pipe replacements, SBM/SPM maintenance, and anode installation. The company owns IMCA-compliant air diving spreads and a wide inventory of NDT and cutting tools. HAL employs a skilled team of IMCA-certified Saturation and Air Diving Supervisors and Divers, enabling it to handle complex underwater tasks safely and efficiently.

However, HAL extensively leverages Saturation Diving capabilities in its offshore operations, particularly within its Subsea Intervention and Specialized Marine Services segments. The company deploys IMCA-compliant saturation diving systems aboard its DP II Diving Support Vessels to execute complex underwater inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) tasks on offshore platforms and subsea infrastructure.

These services are critical for HAL's execution of high-risk, Deepwater projects including structural repairs, anode installations, and pipeline interventions. By integrating saturation diving into its service offerings, HAL ensures operational safety, efficiency, and technical excellence in demanding underwater environments.
