Market Position/ History

G.D., a motorcycle manufacturing firm established in 1923 and acquired by Enzo Seràgnoli at the close of the 1930s, served as the foundation for the Coesia Group. G.D. joined the tobacco industry in 1980 when it produced the 4350/Pack, a ground-breaking wrapping machine. The business took the lead in the industry. Through the acquisition of CIMA, ACMA, GDM, and VOLPAK, the holding has diversified its production since the early 1980s. It manages G.D. as well. Isabella Seràgnoli has been the Group's sole owner since 2002. The holding was renamed Coesia in 2005.

The Group's strength was further increased by the following acquisitions: HAPA, LAETUS, ADMV, CITUS, KALIX, NORDEN, and SACMO. The acquisition of EMMECI, a world leader in automated machinery for packaging luxury and premium goods, was completed in 2016. Coesia completed the purchase of System Ceramics in June 2021, enhancing its commitment to the ceramic machinery industry.

PERSOMASTER Pro ID Card

ID card personalization system - secure laser marking and vivid color DoD inkjet printing (up to 3,000 cards/hour*)

Description

Government eID cards are in most cases an indispensable basis for digital transformation. Whether National Identity Cards, Driver’s Licenses, Voter ID or Healthcare Cards, PERSOMASTER Pro allows efficient personalization in color, black and white with highest durability.

Atlantic Zeiser has 15+ years of real field experience in DoD inkjet printing. With an installed base of hundreds of DoD personalization systems, we are the world leader in cutting-edge DoD based personalization solutions.

In order to achieve a high level of security, PERSOMASTER Pro can combine drop-on-demand (DoD) inkjet with grayscale laser technology. In this configuration, the black channel of the cardholder’s photo is laser marked into the card material. The color channels for vivid printing of the cardholder's photograph are printed by UV color ink.

To increase security and durability, PERSOMASTER Pro can also apply a special varnish layer.

ID cards personalized by PERSOMASTER Pro using this technology have been qualified by FOGRA for ISO 24789 and 10373 compliance. Furthermore, DoD printing technology allows ICAO-compliant personalization.

CARDLINE VERSA Color

All-in-one full-color single-card production solutions (up to 30,000 cards/hour)

TECHNOLOGY: Card Personalization

INDUSTRY: Cards

SEGMENT: Commercial Cards

CARDLINE VERSA Color is the right choice for manufacturers and personalization bureaus focusing on magstripe cards. Based on the field-proven CARDLINE VERSA, CARDLINE VERSA Color adds four-color drop-on-demand (DoD) printing and UV coating capabilities, enabling full-color printing of single cards with far less change-over time compared to traditional card manufacturing processes.

CARDLINE VERSA Color lets personalization bureaus add more attention-getting creative elements to their gift, loyalty, membership and promotional cards, such as brand colors, spot coatings, and other effects. Instead of depending on a complex litho-based card manufacturing process or external suppliers, CARDLINE VERSA Color’s full-color, high speed DoD inkjet printing and UV coating modules allow cost-effective processing of short runs while keeping inventory low and shortening delivery times. Starting from blank cards, the system combines full-face artwork printing with real-time individualization and personalization. Using an inline flipping module, both card faces can be processed in a single pass, enabling speeds of up to 5,000 duplex cards per hour.

In cases where long runs are needed, a personalization bureau can switch off the four-color and UV coating modules, and process conventionally pre-printed cards quickly and cost-effectively at speeds of up to 30,000 cards per hour. The system handles standard products and functions for almost all card formats, including odd-shaped cards, hang tags, and double CR80 cards.

Key Features and Benefits

4-color printing with far less change-over time

A complete card factory in a fraction of the footprint

Highly productive and flexible – and the lowest cost per card

Color artwork printing, inline personalization and UV-coating starting from blank cards

Perfectly suited for short runs of surface-printed cards

Field-proven CARDLINE VERSA personalization for long runs

MODULES

Input

The high-performance friction feeder unit for variable formats is equipped with a vertical card holder. For larger volumes, an optional horizontal product loader can be added. The feeder system is synchronized to the speed of the main transport system. Optional pre-read camera/scanning devices are also available

Magnetic Encoding

Atlantic Zeiser’s state-of-the-art high-precision magnetic encoder allows full flexibility in magstripe encoding anywhere across the card, as well as from top down or bottom up. This unit can be configured with an additional set of write/read heads for parallel encoding of up to two magstripes. Both TOP DOWN and BOTTOM UP encoding are standard

4C DoD Printing

Starting from blank cards, a 600-dpi digital four-color single-pass DoD printing module prints full-bleed artwork and inline personalizes it with-UV curable inks to ensure brilliant print quality at speeds of up to 8,000 cards/hour. An ICC-compliant color management workflow ensures accurate reproduction of images and brand colors

Color Management Suite

A complete color management solution that automatically calibrates the CARDLINE VERSA Color 4C DoD printing module for optimal quality and superior color consistency. CMS Professional ensures faithful reproduction of corporate colors and graphical elements

UV Coating

Provides full edge-to-edge or spot coating, or special 3D-type effects to embellish card elements at speeds of up to 5,000 cards/hour. Atlantic Zeiser consumables offer superior abrasion resistance and long-term durability

Flipping

Allows single-pass inline processing of both card faces. The unit can easily be switched from flipping to straight-through operation

DoD Printing

Various binary DoD inkjet imaging solutions; high-quality alphanumeric / barcode printing and personalization; enabling high production speeds

Print Verification

Enables inline OCR camera verification of personalization data elements. For improved reading performance, difficult backgrounds can be faded out

Label Application

High-speed accurate wipe-on labeling with x-core function reduces roll changes and machine downtime. A user-friendly waste aspiration feature eliminates waste roll rewinding

Label Verification

A high-speed camera checks and verifies the position and integrity of each scratch-off security label

Delivery

System design allows a choice of two delivery options:

Shingle Delivery Unit includes waste gate and shingle delivery

Dual-Shingle Delivery Unit includes waste gate, shingle delivery for remade cards, and shingle delivery for good cards
