Market Position/ History |
In 1992, the Holmes brothers form Chart Industries, a public holding company, and raise funds through an initial public offering (IPO). In 1999, the business purchased Northcoast Cryogenics (a company that repairs cryogenic equipment). In 2005, a new plant in Changzou tripled Chart's manufacturing capacity in PR China. Chart's sales exceeded $1 billion in 2013. Chart Industries purchased Los Angeles Turbine in 2021. Chart and LAT's collaboration expands clients' turbomachinery process and solution possibilities, particularly in hydrogen and helium liquefaction. In 2023, Chart completes its acquisition of Howden. Currently, the firm is in charge of creating the turboexpander to power TECO-Westinghouse's "high speed" motor, which is backed by AG Equipment's compressor package. |

Chart Industries acquired L.A. Turbine The acquisition of L.A. Turbine provides Chart customers with a "one-stop shop" for a wide range of applications, including hydrogen and helium liquefaction, carbon capture and energy storage, industrial gas, natural gas processing, small-scale LNG plants, propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plants, heavy hydrocarbon removal processes for LNG plants, and petrochemical processes. L.A. Turbine (LAT) develops, engineers, manufactures, and tests turboexpanders for both new and aftermarket equipment. Chart said it bought LAT because it has the potential to build a unique expander necessary for hydrogen and helium liquefaction, which is difficult to find in the market due to a small number of businesses capable of developing and producing it. |
