Andersen Corporation, founded in 1903 as Andersen Lumber Company, has a long history of innovation and growth. Early milestones include the creation of the 'two bundle' method in 1905, which revolutionized window assembly, and Fred Andersen's patent for a versatile frame in 1926. In the 1930s, Andersen introduced the first fully assembled window unit, and by the 1950s, the company doubled in size with the introduction of the Flexivent window unit. The invention of the Perma-Shield cladding system in 1966 set the stage for a new category of wood windows, and in 1991, the company developed Fibrex, a composite material that combines the strength of wood with the low-maintenance benefits of vinyl. Over the years, Andersen continued to expand its offerings, introducing product lines like the 400 Series and 200 Series and winning the prestigious EPA ENERGY STAR award in 1999.
