ALDI is a global discount grocery retailer committed to offering high-quality products at affordable prices. Founded in 1961 in Germany by the Albrecht family, the company transformed the grocery industry by pioneering the discount store concept. It expanded internationally, opening its first U.S. store in 1976. Today, ALDI operates over 2,400 stores across 38 states in the U.S., employing more than 45,000 people.
With a focus on simplicity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction, ALDI offers a curated selection of exclusive private-label products, all of which undergo rigorous quality and freshness testing in their Test Kitchen. Recognized as the fastest-growing grocer in the country, ALDI recently released its first-ever Price Leadership Report, highlighting the savings it provides to shoppers nationwide. The report demonstrates that ALDI offers the lowest prices of any national grocery store, saving U.S. households a total of $8.3 billion each year, which is why 25% of U.S. households choose to shop there.
By concentrating on a smaller selection of high-quality products and keeping overhead costs low, ALDI is able to pass on significant savings to customers, offering prices that are up to 50% lower than national brands. The company also emphasizes sustainable sourcing and provides products that cater to specific dietary needs, such as organic, gluten-free, and vegan options. Their streamlined business model eliminates non-essential services, focusing solely on groceries and everyday items, which helps customers save both time and money.

ALDI Announces Plans to Open a Record-Breaking 225+ New Stores in 2025 ALDI, the fastest-growing grocery retailer in the U.S., has announced its plan to open over 225 new stores in 2025 as part of the next phase of its five-year national growth strategy. This marks the largest number of stores ALDI has ever opened in a single year during its nearly 50 years of operations in the U.S., as more shoppers look to save up to 36% on their average shopping trips. The new stores will open through a mix of organic growth and the conversion of select Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket locations to the ALDI format. In total, ALDI plans to convert around 220 Southeastern Grocers stores to the ALDI format by 2027. As part of this strategy, ALDI has completed a transaction to divest approximately 170 Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket locations that are not included in the ALDI conversion plan. These stores have been sold to a consortium comprising C&S Wholesale Grocers, Southeastern Grocers senior leadership, and private investors. This transaction enables ALDI to focus on its conversion efforts in the Southeast, advancing its broader expansion goals across the U.S. |
