Job Description: Senior Account Manager (Market Research & Consultation)
Role Overview: The Senior Account Manager serves as the strategic bridge between our clients and our technical research teams. This is a role for a Technical Consultant—someone who possesses the depth of knowledge of a Research Analyst but applies it to client strategy and relationship growth. While you will not be responsible for the hands-on design of research methodologies, you must be able to interrogate, explain, and defend them with the same level of expertise as a specialist.
Key Responsibilities
-
Client Relationship Management: Act as a trusted advisor to clients, maintaining regular communication to ensure satisfaction, project alignment, and long-term partnership health.
-
Strategic Consultation: Interpret complex datasets to provide actionable recommendations that help clients meet their business objectives, such as market entry, brand positioning, or product development.
-
Expert Methodological Oversight: Maintain a mastery of Research Methodology (RM) equivalent to a Research Analyst. You must be able to critique research designs, explain sampling logic, and ensure the chosen approach perfectly aligns with client goals.
-
Technical Literacy & Product Expertise: Apply a deep, analyst-level understanding of the client’s product and industry. You must be able to speak the technical language of the client’s R&D and Product teams to ensure research insights are contextually accurate.
-
Project Oversight: Collaborate with the internal research and operations teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
-
Insight Synthesis & Gatekeeping: Review and stress-test data findings before they reach the client. You are the final filter, ensuring that all reporting is statistically sound and the narrative is logically bulletproof.
-
Business Development: Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts by identifying unmet client needs and suggesting advanced research solutions.
-
Proposal Development: Draft tailored research proposals, ensuring that the proposed methodologies and technical timelines are realistic and address the client's core challenges.
-
Presentation & Reporting: Lead client workshops and high-stakes presentations, translating raw, technical data into compelling, high-level business narratives that drive decision-making.
Required Skills & Qualifications
-
Methodological Knowledge: Expert-level theoretical knowledge of both Quantitative and Qualitative research. You should be able to explain the why behind specific statistical tests (e.g., Significance, Correlation, Regression) as clearly as an analyst.
-
Experience: 8+ years in Market Research or Strategic Consulting, managing high-value accounts.
-
Product Knowledge: A proven ability to quickly master the technical nuances of complex products and categories.
-
Analytical Interpretation: While you won't be running the data, you must be proficient in reading and interpreting cross-tabs, raw data outputs, and statistical significance reports.
-
Communication: Exceptional storytelling skills; the ability to act as a translator between the technical research team and the client’s executive leadership.
-
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing Research, Statistics, Business, or a related field.
The Ideal Candidate
You are a consultant with an analyst’s mind. You don't need to build the model, but you can spot a flaw in it from a mile away. You gain client trust because you aren't just managing the account—you actually understand the science behind the data and the technical reality of their product.
