Need of Safety Features in Vehicles
Given the large number of fatalities and major injuries caused by automotive accidents throughout the world each year, the subject of automobile safety systems has become critical. This will increase demand for active seat headrests in automobiles.
Several vehicle owners nowadays prefer vehicles with safety features. Active safety features have become important factors in deciding which automobile to buy. Today's new automobiles come with a slew of safety measures designed to keep drivers, passengers, and pedestrians safe.
Protecting vehicle occupants from injuries during car accidents is one of the most essential obligations of the automobile industry. As a result, active seat headrests are now standard in many automobiles. Active seat headrests are quickly becoming a standard component of every vehicle's passive safety system. They protect the delicate spinal region near the base of the skull from unexpected trauma. The headrest is actuated by pressurized gas in BMW automobiles and by springs in Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The efficiency of this system is determined on the accuracy with which it is activated.
Furthermore, in order to upgrade their products, many manufacturers focus on safety system research and development. The smart active head restraint system is currently in the spotlight. These smart active head restraint systems, which consist of a shape memory alloy (SMA) spring actuation system integrated with a mechanical linkage mechanism for the forward motion of the headrest by 50mm within 60ms during a crash event, adapt themselves to minimize backset distance during a rear collision.
The SMA actuation system's unique design, which is based on a pull-only mechanism (which unlocks only when an electric current is delivered to the nitinol spring), serves to prevent the system from being activated even when an unknown external force is applied to the headrest. The suggested system focuses on occupant safety, resulting in an intelligent vehicle safety system with a higher potential for commercial vehicle application due to lower development and operation costs and a lightweight system.
Consequently, growing demand for safety features in vehicles is expected to open up opportunities for the automotive active seat headrests market.
