Bolero Neo and Honda Amaze fare badly in GNCAP test; Kia Carens does better in retest
Global NCAP has released ratings for three passenger vehicles under the #SaferCarsForIndia campaign. The Honda Amaze received two stars for adult safety and zero stars for child occupant protection, while the Bolero NEO received only one star for both. The vehicle's performance was affected by the absence of three-point seat belts in every seating location, the lack of a passenger airbag disconnect switch, and issues with the installation of a Child Restraint System (CRS). The Mahindra Bolero Neo also performed poorly, receiving only one star for both adult and child safety ratings. The Kia Carens, which initially failed in GNCAP testing with zero-star ratings for adult protection, outperformed after some manufacturer improvements. After a retest, the Carens achieved three stars in adult safety and five stars for child occupants. Global NCAP Secretary General Alejandro Furas expressed disappointment at Mahindra's one-star rating for the Bolero Neo and the improvement in Kia's rating for the Carens since its original test.
