In June 2023, together, Toyota Central R&D Labs, Inc. and Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. have created innovative technology that lowers the energy required in the manufacturing of rubber goods. Rubber automotive hoses are produced, then treated with high-temperature steam in an autoclave to give them elasticity. To get the temperature to a set point during this operation, a lot of steam is utilized. This steam is produced by burning a lot of gas. Using simulation technology developed by Toyota Central R&D Labs, which can accurately assess the airflow and heat distribution within the autoclave, Toyoda Gosei concentrated on the process of replacing the air inside the autoclave with steam in order to reduce the quantity of steam utilized.
