European Commission gives nod to Sandoz’s biosimilar to treat autoimmune disorders
The European Commission has approved Pyzchiva, a biosimilar made by Samsung Bioepis, for marketing by Sandoz, a significant manufacturer of generic and biosimilar medications. The approval is a major milestone in Sandoz's expansion plan and a major source of value for the biosimilar industry. In the fields of rheumatology, dermatology, and gastroenterology, Pyzchiva is authorised as a biologic therapy. Rebecca Guntern, President of Sandoz Europe, hailed the approval as a critical step towards giving patients in Europe access to a secure and efficient course of therapy. In September 2023, the business and Samsung Bioepis engaged into a development and commercialization partnership.
