MSD Animal Health Completes Acquisition of Elanco’s Aqua Business
MSD Animal Health, a division of Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, N.J., USA announced the completion of their acquisition of the aqua business of Elanco Animal Health Incorporated. Completing this acquisition strengthens MSD Animal Health's standing in the aqua sector by advancing fish welfare, health, and sustainability in aquaculture, conservation, and fisheries.
The acquisition has resulted in MSD Animal Health acquiring novel products that enhance its vaccine portfolio, including CLYNAV®, a next-generation DNA-based vaccine that shields Atlantic salmon from pancreas disease, and IMVIXA, an anti-parasitic sea lice treatment and water treatment products for warm water production. Due to the growing need for protein and food safety, as well as to ensure a supply of high-quality food and safeguard public health, there is a growing usage of medications, vaccinations, nutrition, and supplements for aquatic animals.
