Introduction for AC Motor 

An AC motor is an electric motor that outputs mechanical power from alternating current (AC) based on the mechanism of electromagnetic induction to deliver rotating energy. It is usually made up of a stator (stationary component) and a rotor (rotating component), both of which create rotating magnetic fields.
Stator is the fixed portion of the motor, consisting of coils of wire that, when provided with AC current, generate a revolving magnetic field. Rotor is the rotating component, connected to the output shaft, interacts with the stator magnetic field, which it causes to turn and generate torque. Electromagnetic Induction is the AC flow through the stator windings produces a magnetic field, which interacts with the rotor and induces current in the conductors of the rotor. This interaction produces a force that rotates the rotor.
It follows the Lorentz force equation, which establishes that when there is a conductor carrying current which is exposed to a magnetic field, it induces magnetic lines of force. By Lorentz force equation, upon application of an alternating current supply to the rotor coil, there is a certain force developed in it. It will cause creation of a clockwise torque resulting in the rotor movement. The stator has the field winding of a typical AC machine, and the armature winding rotor is on the rotor. But as the motor size increases, so does the commutator and brushes size, reducing the efficiency of the machine. To avoid this, the rotor and stator windings are contained on the armature in the proper orientation.
