A makeup brush is a beauty tool with bristles. It is used for the application of makeup or face painting. The bristles of the brush are made out of natural or synthetic materials, while the handle is mostly of plastic or wood. When cosmetics are applied using the appropriate brush, they blend better onto the skin. So, makeup brushes will help to attain a flawless and precise finish. For example, a foundation is usually applied with a foundation brush which is long brushed with flat bristles and tapered tip for better coverage and even out blend. There is a large variety of shapes and sizes of makeup brushes. It depends on which area of the face it is being used for and for which product as well.  For example, the shape of the brush tip can be chiseled, straight, angular, round, flat, or tapered. So, for applying concealer, a short flat brush is used to cover acne, dark spots, and undereye circles.  Makeup brushes are easier to use for applying makeup rather than using a plastic applicator which takes a lot of time and is not sanitary.
