LEONI's history began in 1569 when Frenchman Anthoni Fournier established a wire workshop in Nuremberg, producing fine gold and silver wires for embroidery. Over the centuries, it grew into Leonische Werke Roth-Nürnberg AG in 1917. In the 20th century, LEONI became a major player in the electrical industry, pioneering enameled wires, rubber-insulated cables, and plastic cables. It expanded into cable assembly and wiring systems for automotive and household appliance industries.From the 1970s, LEONI expanded globally through subsidiaries and acquisitions, including the 2008 takeover of Valeo’s wiring systems division, becoming a leading supplier. Recently, LEONI has focused on sustainability with its ReWire program aiming for climate neutrality by 2045 and launched LIMEVERSE, a 100% recyclable product line.
