Why Workplace Requires Air Purification?: Cognitive Market Research

By Aparna Dutta Published At: 21-December-2022 Updated At: 12-April-2023

Meta Description: Use a sustainable and practical solution to combat indoor air pollution and get cleaner air in workplace.

The outbreak of pandemic has had an impact on how people clean to keep safe in recent years. The growing usage of disinfectants and cleaners has increased the amount of chemicals in the air. Even though facilities' cleaning techniques have evolved, how they clean buildings has a direct impact on the air quality inside them.

In the field of safety and indoor cleanliness, air purification is a new type of cleaning. To ensure better air in the building, an air purification system helps fight chemicals and contaminants in the air.

According to a various research people living in "green buildings," or buildings that consider human health as well as environmental, economic, and social effects, are more productive. Residents enjoyed fewer sick days and reduced asthma rates by breathing in air with lower amounts of CO2 and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) - contaminants.

Air purification is a practical strategy to maintain the health of the environment with the flexibility to select an air purification solution for your space and as a developing sustainable cleaning technology.

Indoor Air Pollution and How they Impact People?

According to studies, air contaminants are higher indoors. Pollen, dust, viruses, and VOCs are all contaminants that can have a harmful impact on one's health. HVAC systems, cleaning supplies, building and furnishing materials, outside air pollution, people, and animals are all potential sources of air pollution.

While pollen and dust can cause allergy reactions and signs like sneezing, dizziness, coughing, and fever, inhaling mold and VOCs can have far-reaching health consequences. VOCs from paint, air fresheners, cleaning solutions, fabrics, carpets, and other consumer items can infiltrate the air across a whole facility through the procedure of "off-gassing" (the emission of chemicals into the air).

Taking in the chemicals emitted by these items can have both short-term and long-term consequences. Short-term VOC exposure can cause headaches, nausea, and dizziness, while long-term exposure can cause significant disease and central nervous system damage. In spaces with insufficient air ventilation, the chance of being infected from viruses and bacteria doubles, particularly in crowded places.

Workplaces Requires Clean and Fresh Air

Sick Building Syndrome (SBS), a commonly used term to indicate severe health impacts associated to the time people spend in the building, is common in buildings with poor air quality. Implementing measures to combat SBS in the workplace can play a significant role in boosting a company's efficiency.

Air Purifying Technology

The primary technology in air purification systems is the removal of air contaminants from indoor air. The way air is cleansed varies depending on the system. The passive air purifier is the most prevalent type of purification device. Passive air purifiers suck indoor air into the system, where any air pollutants identified are caught in a filter and cleaner air is released back into the room.

The filtration processes in an air purifier differ based on the type of filter material utilized. These scientifically engineered filters traps or inactivates air pollutants:

Ultraviolet (UV) lights

UV lights deactivate contaminants rather than trapping them. Cleaner air is then released back into the room.

High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter

This filter captures particles such as allergies, pollen, viruses, mold, and germs in its fibers and pushes out cleaner air.

Activated carbon filter:

The porous carbon absorbs air, where organic components in the air react chemically with the activated carbon. Pollutants adhere to the filter in this manner, and the air exits the filter purified.

Multiple filters, an adequate square foot capacity, whisper quiet noise levels, and extensive documentation are all features of optimal air purification systems for office buildings. With such characteristics, the air purifier will not only prevent the growth of pollutants in the air, but also benefit the people in the spaces and help to create a greener cleaning strategy. Overall, air purification is a realistic and long-term option for cleaner air and a safer environment.
